Chaplaincy Qualification Partnership Underway

In June 2017, BaptistCare and Morling College’s Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care qualification was approved by the higher education accrediting body, TEQSA. The qualification includes a Masters, a Graduate Diploma and a Graduate Certificate of Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care.

Fourteen students began the brand new Graduate Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care courses in February 2018. One of the students completed a Chaplaincy placement during the first semester of 2018 at an aged care centre on our Macquarie Park site, which was of great benefit to both the student and BaptistCare.

In the second semester of 2018, four new students enrolled in the course, with one of these students also a current Pastoral Care Volunteer with BaptistCare. This connection between the pastoral care program is encouraging, as we see a volunteer using their spiritual gifting and also awakening a desire to gain additional training to pursue a career in Chaplaincy.

The courses have been designed to deliver both foundational Chaplaincy skills as well as upskilling those already working as spiritual carers.
