Breaking Ground At Goulburn

Our Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF) development in Goulburn had its first sod turned by the Hon. Pru Goward MP, Member for Goulburn, Minister for Family and Community Services, Minister for Social Housing, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault in February 2018.

The 20-unit complex is a part of the 3,400 residences being delivered through the NSW Government’s $1.1bn SAHF project.

As purpose-built over-55’s living, the additional units located within BaptistCare’s Clinton Place will significantly expand the social and affordable housing supply in Goulburn.

In regional areas of NSW such as Goulburn, there are fewer services available to help resolve the issues leading to homelessness and a unique set of vulnerabilities facing older people.

Housing Solutions For All Australians

We joined the Everybody’s Home campaign in March 2018, challenging all political parties to rethink housing policy and embrace new models of development, ownership and support.

From people wanting to buy their very first house, to others struggling to just find a safe roof over their heads, it’s clear that the system just isn’t working for everyone.

With more and more people struggling to afford the private rental market, the supply of affordable or social rental properties is outstripping supply, while a chronic shortage of social and affordable housing is forcing record levels of homelessness.

BaptistCare is committed to providing a real solution for seniors and single parent families, where not only housing, but people’s wellbeing, is enriched with our wrap around services such as chaplaincy, no and low interest loans and home care services.

We are a registered Community Housing Provider under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing, and have been providing affordable housing since 1953.

The Race To 500

Our Social & Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF) developments continue to progress, with six of eight Development Applications approved in the last year.

Early work or construction has commenced on all six sites, with our first sites at Lismore and Goulburn due to be completed and ready for tenants by early 2019.

We are partnering with the NSW Government to provide and manage social and affordable housing, catering to those most in need across the state, through the SAHF.

The SAHF is a key component of the Future Directions for Social Housing in NSW strategy that will result in more social and affordable housing dwellings linked to tailored support, to help households gain independence.

The 500 new dwellings will be constructed over the next two years in eight locations with a focus on seniors and single parent families. The sites are Carlingford, Five Dock, Narellan, Goulburn, Lismore, Springwood, Gosford and Newcastle.
